A.A.S. Degree: 66 Hours
The Aviation Flight Technology degree prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills of students who plan a career in commercial flight operations using fixed wing aircraft for operations such as schedule air carrier of passenger or cargo, agricultural, corporate, charter, or rescue. This program includes instruction in principles of aircraft design and performance, aircraft flight systems and controls, flight crew operations and procedures, radio communications, navigation procedures and systems, airways, safety and traffic regulations, and governmental rules and regulations pertaining to piloting aircraft. In order to complete the program, students must successfully pass the Federal Aviation Administration [FAA] Private, Instrument, and Commercial knowledge examinations. The program prepares students for FAA certification as a commercial pilot with an instrument rating in single engine airplanes with electives for multiengine operations and/or certified flight instructor.
This program is selective admission and complies with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations. Prior to registration, students must provide a valid driver’s license AND official birth certificate with raised seal OR a US Passport or other approved identification for Transportation Security Administration verification and approval purposes. A valid and current FAA Medical Certificate is requried. Non-US citizens will need to undergo Transportation Security Administration (TSA) processing.
A grade of ‘C’ or higher is required for all AVI prefix courses. ‘S’ grades issued for Prior Learning Credit are accepted as equivalent to ‘C’ grades. The average time required to complete this program is three academic years.
