CLT-110 Organic Laboratory Techniques Credits: 2 Contact Hours: Lec 1 Lab 2 Tier Rate: Tier I This course emphasizes instrumental laboratory techniques for characterizing organic compounds. Students will use a combination of basic laboratory techniques (such as gravity and vacuum filtration, extraction, distillation, reflux, recrystallization) and instrumental techniques (such as infrared spectroscopy, liquid chromatography, and gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry) to identify chemical compounds or components of a mixture. Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in ATS 120 .
