Certificate: 32 Hours
The OTC Hearing Instrument Science (HIS) program is designed to prepare graduates to practice as Hearing Instrument Specialists in a variety of hearing healthcare settings, including private practice. This a flexible distance learning program with part time and full time enrollment options. We can accommodate local students as well as out of state students. The Certificate of Achievement is geared towards individuals who live in a state where licensure does not require a full degree, or who may already have a degree and simply want to learn more about the Hearing Healthcare field. Individuals who are already licensed and practicing as a Hearing Instrument Specialist may be interested in the Certificate of Achievement as a way to further their knowledge base.
This program includes both lecture-based and hands-on coursework. This program prepares graduates to function as a member of the hearing healthcare “team.” The “team” includes: Hearing Instrument Specialists, Otologists, Audiologists, and Otolaryngologists. The May 2014 Occupational Employment statistics Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the estimated mean national wage for Hearing Instrument Specialists is $47,820.
