A.A.S. Degree: 64 Hours
The OTC Hearing Instrument Science (HIS) program is designed to prepare graduates to practice as Hearing Instrument Specialists in a variety of hearing healthcare settings, including private practice. This a flexible distance learning program with part time and full time enrollment options. We can accommodate local students as well as out of state students.
This program includes both lecture-based and hands-on coursework, as well as, supervised clinical education experiences. This program prepares graduates to function as a member of the hearing healthcare “team.” The “team” includes: Hearing Instrument Specialists, Otologists, Audiologists, and Otolaryngologists. The May 2014 Occupational Employment statistics Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the estimated mean national wage for Hearing Instrument Specialists is $47,820.

General Education Requirements
Note:
As required by Missouri law, all degree programs must include instruction in both the U.S. and the Missouri State Constitution. This can be satisfied by either PLS 101 or HST 120 .
* BCS 165 and BCS 205 may be substituted for BCS 115 , however, BCS 205 has a prerequisite of CHM 101 .
