A.S. Degree: 62 Hours

This Associate of Science degree program prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in biology. Because requirements vary at each four-year college or university, students should check with their faculty advisor or the school to which they intend to transfer to ensure they are taking the appropriate courses.

Biology Requirements - 21 Credit Hours

Biology - 8 credit hours

BIO 170 General Biology II Credits: 4
BIO 250 Genetics Credits: 4

Chemistry - 5 credit hours

Complete at least five (5) credit hours; choose option one (1) or two (2).

Option 1:
CHM 170 General Chemistry II Credits: 4
and CHM 171 General Chemistry II Lab Credits: 1
Option 2:
CHM 200 Survey of Organic Chemistry Credits: 5

Physics - 8 credit hours

Complete at least eight (8) credit hours; choose option one (1) or two (2).

Student must complete at least five (5) credit hours of Mathematical Science from the options below or any higher level math course (except MTH-210) to meet this requirement. Please note that students choosing MTH 130 must also take MTH 131.

Students will complete 9 credit hours of elective coursework from any college-level course numbered 100 or higher. Elective credit may include approved transfer courses that do not have a direct Ozarks Tech course equivalency but are determined to be at the appropriate college level.
