Paramedicine Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

Certificate: 52 Hours

Students who have earned this certificate will have successfully completed the paramedic program. The paramedic program is a selective admission program that requires students to have satisfied all requirements for the Certificate of Specialization in EMT prior to entering the program.

The Paramedic is a professional who can conduct invasive and pharmacological interventions. Possessing all the skills of the lower-level providers, Paramedics can also conduct a broader range of interventions based on skills that are harder to maintain and pose greater risk to patients if done incorrectly. Paramedic care is based on advanced assessment and formulating a field impression. State licensure requires successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program at the certificate or associate’s degree level.

Additional program information and an application can be found at otc.edu/ems. Students should consider contacting Paramedicine faculty for further advisement.

The paramedic program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP), 8301 Lakeview Parkway, Suite 111-312, Rowlett, TX 75088, (214) 703-8445.

The paramedic program is also accredited by the Missouri Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, PO Box 570, Jefferson City, MO 65102, (573) 761-9911.
