This course examines non-acute healthcare settings with the United States healthcare delivery system. Topics will include the organizational structures, accreditation, licensing requirements, documentation requirements, and the financing of healthcare services, including the influence of managed care. Emphasis will be on various payment and reimbursement methodologies and data sets, as well as the responsibilities of the health information professional. Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in HIT 220 , HIT 230 , CIS 201, and MTH 128 or MTH 128S or MTH 129 .
