AUM-233 Automatic Transmission and Trans Axle Credits: 4 Contact Hours: Lec 2 Lab 4 This course combines the study of planetary gear trains, hydraulics and electronics in the repair of automatic transmissions. A “hands on” approach is taken to learning and applying fluid dynamics and epicyclical (planetary) gear train components. Students will remove and install a transmission in a vehicle, use current industry tools and techniques to diagnose transmission problems and completely overhaul a front wheel drive transaxle Upon completion of the transaxle overhaul, the student will be required to set up and test the operation of the overhaul using a transmission dynamometer. Prerequisite(s): AUM 171 .
