This course is a study of the basic descriptive, institutional, and clinical statistics in healthcare. The focus will be on transforming data into meaningful information in clinical and financial decision-making. Topics will include commonly computed rates and percentages, clinical indices, databases and registries, vital statistics, and knowledge-based research techniques. Emphasis will be on data selection, interpretation, and presentation skills. Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in HIT 110 , CIS 201 , MTH 128 or MTH 128S .
